Derrick Rose tore the meniscus in his right knee during the 3rd quarter of last night’s Trail Blazers game. This is surprisingly good news, as it was widely speculated to be an ACL tear, which would essentially doom his career. Unfortunately, it will still require surgery, which means he won’t be seeing a basketball court again for some time.
An MRI confirmed the injury this afternoon. Derrick Rose will likely be given the same timetable Russell Westbrook was given when he suffered the same injury in the 2013 NBA playoffs. Westbrook was absent from April 24th to November 3rd (about 6 months) with setbacks. If Rose plays again this year, at all, it will be at the tail-end of the season.
