After Thursday’s preseason finale, in which the Blazers beat the Warriors 90-74, LaMarcus Aldridge predicted that Portland would finish seventh in the West. Aldridge made his prediction to Yahoo! Sports’ Mark J. Spears after the game, in which he added, “Mark my words.”
It’s great to see LaMarcus feels that the Blazers will make the playoffs, but to predict the seventh seed seems that he is not setting his expectations very high.
I would have rather seen him say something in the lines of, “We will be a a playoff team,” or “We will make some noise this year,” not pinpointing an actual seeding in the playoffs.
I understand that the Blazers, most likely, will not be a high seed in the playoffs. Their is no guarantee that the Blazers will make the playoffs, but selling your team as a low seed does not bode well with fans. Most fans wear rose-colored glasses and don’t take too well to a player on their favorite team setting such a low expectation for the season.
How do you feel about LaMarcus Aldridge’s prediction? Is he lowering fans expectations? Where do you think the Blazers will finish? Post your thoughts in the comment section.
