Victor Claver had 16 points, and 7 boards as Spain rolled over Croatia 92-66 and took the Bronze medal for EuroBasket 2013.
Sergio Llull led Spain with 21 points, and Bojan Bogdanovic had 22 for a Croatian team that found itself down 11 at the half. Croatia could only manage to crawl to within 7 early in the third quarter before succumbing to a motivated and energized Spanish club.
Claver also had 3 blocks, including this monster rejection of Bogdanovic early in the game.
It was Claver’s best game of the tournament, as he reached double digits for only the second time during Eurobasket’s 11 games. While Claver shot just 3 of 7, he got to the line five times for 10 free throws, missing just one.
Teammate Marc Gasol had another strong performance, adding a block and 2 assists to go with his 17 points and 8 boards. Gasol was also named to the EuroBasket All-Tournament team, averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per contest over the tournament.
Claver ends Eurobasket 2013 averaging 6 points and 5 boards in 20 minutes per contest. He also has just 15 days of rest before the Blazers’ first preseason game against the Clippers at Portland’s RoseModa GardenCenter on October 7 .
