The preliminaries are over, but you can still watch Nicolas Batum and Victor Claver compete for their respective countries, as both have advanced to the second round. France solidified their spot with a decisive 82-65 win over Belgium, in which Batum did not play so that he could rest his ankle (about time), while Spain marked their territory with an 83-59 win over Georgia, in which Victor Claver shot 2/2 in 8 minutes of play.
Both of the Blazers competing in the Eurobasket tournament have been little more than wallflowers thus far. It’s a bit disappointing, since I would like to see Batum display the skills that are supposedly worth $11.3 million this year. Claver, on the other hand, is performing as expected, but, again, not phenomenally.
I’ve been waiting all tournament for tomorrow’s matchup. Spain will have to wait until Thursday while France faces off with Jonas Valanciunas and the Lithuanian team. The French team is clearly the favorite to win, but keep an eye on Valanciunas. He’s going to have a great season with the Toronto Raptors this year, and if you get a chance to watch him in Eurobasket, take it.
Spain will play Greece on Thursday.
