The Portland Trail Blazers released their pre-season schedule today. From October 7th to October 24th they will participate in seven games, facing the Jazz and Clippers twice, and the Kings, Suns, and Warriors one time each. Three of the seven games will take place on the Blazers’ home turf, which I shall refer to as the “Rose Garden” for the time being, to avoid salting a fresh wound.
The schedule is as follows:
|October 7th||Los Angeles Clippers||7:00 p.m. PST||Rose Garden|
|October 9th||Phoenix Suns||7:00 p.m. PST||Rose Garden|
|October 11th||Utah Jazz||6:00 p.m. PST||Century Link Arena|
|October 16th||Utah Jazz||6:00 p.m. PST||Energy Solutions Arena|
|October 18th||Los Angeles Clippers||7:30 p.m. PST||Staples Center|
|October 20th||Sacramento Kings||6:00 p.m. PST||Rose Garden|
|October 24th||Golden State Warriors||7:30 p.m. PST||Oracle Arena|
Now, I’m not one to wish for an Oregon summer to pass, but when all that remains of the sun is a distant promise, and the rain perpetually falls like a slinky on an escalator, I will be comforted by the return of my lifetime love; NBA basketball. There are precisely 1,296 hours until the Blazers’ pre-season tipoff. 54 days may seem like a long time, but that’s only 1/5th of the time it takes to grow a baby, and there will be no diapers when our wait is through.
I am very excited for this schedule. The Clippers will give us an idea of how well the Blazers are prepared to battle elite teams, the Suns will allow them some Summer League vengeance, the Jazz will boost their confidence (one would hope), the Kings will juxtapose McCollum and McLemore, and the Warriors will bring Lillard to life. I love watching Damian play in the Oracle Arena because it’s like a home game on the road for him, back in Oakland.
So mark your calendars and try to enjoy some sunshine while your patience is tested. We’ll be here in solidarity to provide coverage, news, analysis, opinions, and interesting tid-bits in the meantime.
