Realistic Expectations for the Blazers..

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

As the dog days of summer continue, it becomes harder and harder not to look forward to the beginning of the 2010-11 regular season. The storylines are all over the place, the Miami conglomerate, Phil Jackson’s last year, Shaq in Boston, etc. As I turn my focus towards Blazer Nation, things are a little different this summer. There’s generally an oddly satisfying feeling of hope, hype, anxiety. This off-season, there seems to be a sense of worry in the mix and I’m not really sure why. There is no mistaking that this off-season has been mighty different from those in [...]

An Ode to Pippen, Sheed

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Scottie Pippen. Hall of Famer. What more needs to be said? With so many tributes that have gone down over the week, I find myself struggling to add anything of note. The man deserves all of the accolades he has received in the past week or so and I would feel empty if I didn’t use this space to give him what little props I could. As I watched the Hall of Fame and read all about him and re-lived my childhood…I thought to myself… there is a generation who will know absolutely nothing about Scottie Pippen. I’m not sure [...]

Nic Batum speaks with DIME Magazine

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just passing this along from yesterday, an interview that DIME Magazine‘s Austin Burton conducted with Blazer forward Nic Batum. There is not much ‘groundbreaking’ news in the brief piece but Batum did have some interesting things to say: Dime: How does your role with France compare to your role with the Blazers? NB: I’m more aggressive on offense (for France). The defense is the same like I do in Portland, but I’m probably more aggressive on offense. Dime: With Martell Webster getting traded and Travis Outlaw leaving, things should be different for you in Portland. NB: I think it shows [...]

Rockets, Hornets, Pacers and Nets all make a deal

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to ESPN.com‘s Chad Ford, there is a crazy trade to break the dog days of summer. The main pieces moving: Houston sends Trevor Ariza to New Orleans, New Orleans sends Darren Collison to Indiana, Indiana sends Troy Murphy to New Jersey and New Jersey sends Courtney Lee to Houston. I need a few deep breaths. Here’s the complete list of player movement in this four-team, five-player trade. Houston sends: Trevor Ariza (to NO) Houston receives: Courtney Lee (from NJN) New Orleans sends: Darren Collison, James Posey (to IND) New Orleans receives: Trevor Ariza (from HOU) Indiana sends: Troy Murphy [...]

NBA 2010-11 Schedule Released: Who has most National TV Appearances?

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

….it’s not the Miami Heat, ladies and gentlemen. No, it is not the NBAs version of the nWo leading the way. It’s the Boston Celtics who are the team with the most National TV Appearances with 30 games to be televised during the 2010-11 Regular Season. The NBA released their regular season schedule, and I, like a dork was curious to see who got the most national love this season. The Orlando Magic come in 2nd with 25 while the Lakers and Miami are tied for 3rd with 23 a piece. The Bulls come in at 4th with 22, tied [...]

What about Courtney Lee?

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

(Note: There’s no rumors of a deal between Portland and New Jersey, not even whispers, this is all hypothetical. Have to love the dog days of summer) Late last night as I was tinkering around with the Trade Machine and seeing how little options Portland has of a straight-up deal for Rudy Fernandez. Seriously, this post was *this close* to being about JaVale McGee. Then all of a sudden, I tripped on something that I liked. It was a deal that sent Rudy to the New Jersey Nets for Courtney Lee. The more I thought about it, the more it [...]

Story up soon on NBA.com. Rumor: Rudy to Bulls deal could be done Monday

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The latest in the Rudy Fernandez trade saga comes from various sources stating that a rumored deal between the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers could be immanent. Remember this is just a rumor, nothing has been confirmed and considering this is the off-season it should be taken, as always, with a grain of salt. Let’s just try and make sense of all this. This is being reported by The Knicks Blog and comes from the twitter of SNY’s Tommy Dee: Source says a deal with Rudy Fernandez and the Bulls could be done by monday. James Johnson to portland [...]
