Quick: Blazers talking to Roger Mason

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: None Yet

From The Oregonian’s Jason Quick on Twitter: Blazers having “ongoing conversations” with free agent guard Roger Mason according to agent Mark Bartelstein. “We’ve talked quite a bit.” Mason certainly fits the shooter profile the Blazers have been after, as a 38.1 percent career shooter from three, but even when he peaked in 2008-09 with the Spurs — 30 minutes, 11.8 points, 42 percent from three, 42.5 percent from the field, three rebounds, two assists — he still only managed a below-average PER of 11.9 (career high 13.8 in fewer minutes the year before in Washington) with poor-to-average defense. Essentially, he’s [...]

Quick: Pfund next GM on Blazers list

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: None Yet

From the @blazersblog Twitter account: Next GM the Blazers will contact, former Heat GM Randy Pfund, according to @jwquick. Tough to say one way or another if this means Danny Ferry is passing on the job, or if he’s just mulling his options while the Blazers look around.

Ford: Blazers offered Aldridge for Harris, Favors

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

From Chad Ford’s ESPN Daily Dime Chat, in responding to a question about getting Chris Bosh in a sign-and-trade for LaMarcus Aldridge: But you do bring up an interesting point about Aldridge. I keep hearing he’s out there. The Blazers offered Aldridge to the Nets for Derrick Favors and Devin Harris during the draft. Looks like he’s in play. Yet another aggressive move the Blazers tried to make during the draft. What do you think of the deal? This is one I’d have to think about for awhile, but it’s definitely a move to consider — especially if, like me, [...]

Portland in the running for Farmar

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: None Yet

From ESPNLosAngeles.com’s Dave McMenamin update on the Lakers free agency: As for the impending departures of the other Lakers’ free agents, Indiana was the early front-runner to sign Farmar, but the 23-year old told ESPNLosAngeles.com via text message “Portland is right there too.” Interesting is the primary word that comes to mind when reading this. For one, it comes straight from the camels mouth so to speak. This not only backs up Adrian Wojnarowski’s previous report on the Blazers interest in Farmar, but takes it a step further. If you’re like me, you have to be wondering what exactly Portland [...]

Ford: Hornets pulled out of Chris Paul deal

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

From ESPN’s Chad Ford in his live chat: The Blazers got close to a deal with the Hornets last week that would’ve sent Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla, Nicolas Batum, Jerryd Bayless and the 22nd pick to NO for Paul before Jeff Bower pulled out of the deal saying that their owner wasn’t ready to trade Paul. The trade they made on draft night got them out of the luxury tax, so that’s no longer the issue. The issue is whether Paul is no unhappy enough to force a trade. Personally I think the Hornets can do better than that for [...]

Woj: Blazers interested in Matthews, Farmar

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Just a couple tidbits to pass from Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski‘s free agent buzz: Portland has targeted Utah’s restricted free agent Wesley Matthews(notes), who had a surprising rookie season after going undrafted out of Marquette. The Indiana Pacers are targeting former Lakers point guard Jordan Farmar(notes) for a one-year contract. The Portland Trail Blazers and Knicks have shown interest, too. A guy like Anthony Morrow may sound about right, but these two names sound a bit off. A little surprised to see these two names pop up on the Blazers’ radar. Matthews shocked many with his success story of going undrafted, [...]

Woj: Blazers among interested in Morrow

AUTHOR: | IN: Blazers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

From Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter: G-State restricted free agent Anthony Morrow has slew of interest, including Spurs, Celtics, Lakers, Blazers, Clips and Jazz, sources say. Sounds about right, given that Morrow is one of the best shooters in the league, and the Blazers are always looking for guys who can shoot. Still, the Warriors can match any offer for Morrow, so prying him away can get tricky, and he might get overpriced in the process. Also, considering how similar Morrow’s game is to what Rudy has been consistently offering, this is probably just another sign that the team [...]
