From ESPNLosAngeles.com’s Dave McMenamin update on the Lakers free agency:
As for the impending departures of the other Lakers’ free agents, Indiana was the early front-runner to sign Farmar, but the 23-year old told ESPNLosAngeles.com via text message “Portland is right there too.”
Interesting is the primary word that comes to mind when reading this. For one, it comes straight from the camels mouth so to speak. This not only backs up Adrian Wojnarowski’s previous report on the Blazers interest in Farmar, but takes it a step further. If you’re like me, you have to be wondering what exactly Portland is pitching to Farmar to put them in the running? One would assume Farmar left the Lakers to be a star, and the current Blazer situation sees both Andre Miller and Jerryd Bayless at the point. The logical thinking is that Portland would make a trade to make room for Farmar. Then again, this is a team without a General Manager so it’s too hard to go down that road. The cynic in me also says that Farmar may just be saying this to get a sweetened deal from the Pacers, who knows. We’ll keep an eye on this as it develops.
