After clearing waivers, Travis Diener will sign with the Portland Trail Blazers, league sources tell Y! Sports.
Diener had been playing — or not playing, having appeared in just four games, averaging 0.8 points and 1.0 assists — with the Indiana Pacers prior to being waived. This is a bit of a surprise given that this is a name that hasn’t been brought up and that the Blazers elected not to give a young D-Leaguer at shot. This move probably won’t mean much at all, but it does give the Blazers some ballhandling insurance with Steve Blake basking in the sun down in L.A. Diener, who went to Marquette, has career highs of 22 points and 10 assists.
