A little more than the 6-8 weeks most were speculating — the general recovery time listed for stress fractures in the foot — and the current timetable puts an Outlaw return far past the trade deadline, making his value almost completely dependent on his expiring contract. Of course, the Blazers might be playing it safe with the 3-5 months and he could be back, at least practicing, earlier, but I wouldn’t count on it. Remember that he’s going to be in a foot cast for much of the time and won’t be able to keep his conditioning up.

Haha, I've thought that same thing before. I guess you only know if it's unsuccessful after the surgery, like with Grant Hill needing invasive ankle surgery so many times.
