Today on ESPN.com, John Hollinger dropped his 09-10 forecast of the Blazers and every team in the NBA. It’s an Insider article so if you don’t have those priviliges you’re just going to have to pout. Kind of like how I do when I hear they might cancel Parks & Recreation just as its getting super funny. Anyways, back to Hollinger’s thoughts on Portland. Surprisingly, he shows the Blazers a lot of love. Is this….*gasp*….national respect? It tastes good people. The piece…well it’s nothing new for Blazer fans. Andre Miller = upgrade, Brandon Roy = really good, Free Agents = PDX haters, Portland = deep and on and on and on. It’s just kind of odd (and nice) to see this kind of positivity presented on such a national stage. If you didn’t know this is a completely new era for the Blazers and stuff like this reminds me of how far we’ve come. Interesting things he says about Portland:
- Predicted us to win the Northwest, to finish 2nd in the West and win 55 games. Yummy.
- Said we ”could be a 60-win team” but expects some sort of setback, mainly cursing Oden and Big Joel for being injury-prone. A+ for realism but if either of them gets hurt I’m hunting him down and DDTing him outside his front door.
- Biggest strength: size, biggest weakness: frontcourt depth.
That’s about all the new territory he added to be honest with you. Let’s get this season going. I’ve never even liked the first day of training camp (that’s a different post) but you can’t help but get a little excited for this season to start.
