Take Brandon Bass off that backup plan list

Posted by: Coup

Brandon Bass has signed a four-year deal with the Orlando Magic, via NBA.com’s David Aldridge:

The Orlando Magic are trying to keep up in the arms race in the competitive Eastern Conference, agreeing to terms on Friday with free agent forward Brandon Bass on a four-year deal believed to be worth $18 million.

Aldridge never mentions in the article that the Blazers were in pursuit of Bass, citing Cleveland, Dallas and New Orleans instead. This could end up being a big blow to the Blazers, or meaning nothing at all, as I’ve felt all summer that Bass was Portland’s true backup plan if things didn’t work out (and they haven’t so far). On the other hand, Portland might have been Bass’ No. 1 option over the past week because the Blazers could’ve offered him the most money. Turns out he wasn’t willing to wait as long as many of us thought.

How long does it take to “prepare” an offer for Paul Millsap?

            BallHype: hype it up!

    That’s what I’m sayin’!!

KP: Blazernation is growing restless by the nanosecond!! Don’t blow this opportunity for the team’s, fans’, and your sake. Remember, this is a small market team, and coming from the NW we are very sensitive!!

In other news…. The Bulls reportedly want Bayless over Boozer in the 3 way trade with Portland/Utah.. Which would essentially be Bayless for Hinrich…. I say no way in hell.

Yeah, that’s so silly I’m not even posting on it.

Sorry meant Bayless over Outlaw. Either way… I agree… It is silly
