It’s a possibility that Nate McMillan may move Sergio Rodriguez to the bench starting tonight in Houston (credit Quick). Nate didn’t confirm it like he did Channing’s heave-ho, but he certainly did not deny it. Sergio only played a handful of minutes in the first half of Game 2 as Nate opted to go with Roy and Rudy in the backcourt in the second half. As much as he has made me cringe when he’s been on the floor, I think Sergio should get minutes early in the second quarter ala Game 2. At his best, Sergio can speed the pace of the game up which is something the Blazers need as a faster pace favors the Red & Black Attack. However, if the production isn’t there, take him out and go with Roy at the point in the second half. I’ll take Roy guarding Brooks over Sergio guarding Brooks. I’d have to credit Nate, he’s put himself in a nice win-win situation here.
