A link to a Pritchard defense
We’ve tried to avoid the Adrian Wojnarowski article that slammed Kevin Pritchard, partially because it’s a little over-the-top and partially because Blazersedge Dave did a fantastic job picking it apart, but here’s one man’s defense of Pritchard’s recent moves regarding the Darius Miles situation. It’s fairly clear that the Blazers email to the league was not the best course of action, but it shouldn’t ruin what Pritchard’s done, either for him, the Blazers or for the fans.
An Interview with Clyde Drexler
No, not our interview. Ryan McNeill of Hoops Addict was kind enough to forward a one-on-one with Drexler that he did a couple of days ago. It’s a nice quick read with some relevant thoughts from the Glyde on his rookie season that a certain big man’s strongest critics should consider.
Blazers 102, Bucks 85 Re-Thoughts
There is only two words to describe tonight’s victory over Milwaukee. Beast mode. That’s right, the Blazers saw a Bogut-less Milwaukee team and went into complete beast mode. Spearheaded by Greg Oden the Blazers absolutely beasted the Bucks. You can’t say they didn’t. Portland won the battle of the boards 58-30. You didn’t misread that, 58-30 which including 19 offensive rebounds. I told y’all a frontcourt of Dan Gaduzric and Francisco Elson was a joke but damn. That was a beating they took. Absolute beating. Everyone on Portland got in on the rebounding party. An aggressive attack by the Blazers [...]
Blazers/Bucks Pre-Thoughts
There’s no place like home right? After what could be seen as a disappointing split on an East Coast road trip, the Blazers are back home. At least we won’t have to be concerned about any wackiness. Tonight marks the Blazers return to the Rose Garden for the beginning of a three-game homestand against Eastern Conference opponents. First up….*cue ominous music*…the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee is currently the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference at 20-23. They are a Scott Skiles led team so you can never count them out. But they are also wildly inconsistent and pretty much the definition [...]
Rudy’s going to PHX
That’s right Blazer fans, even though we left B-Roy, LMA and Oden out to dry, Rudy Fernandez will be going to Phoenix to represent the Blazers in the Slam-Dunk Contest. Jason Quick reported today that Rudy won the fan voting contest over rookies Russell Westbrook and Joe Alexander. I think it was the singing. He will go to Phoenix and face off against former champions Nate Robinson, Dwight Howard and probably the most underwhelming Slam Dunk Contest participant since Shawn Kemp…Mr. Rudy Gay. (I always pick Rudy Gay to win and he always fails me) Rudy’s appearance in the Slam [...]
Road Trip Re-Thoughts
Six days ago I wrote about how this road trip scared me. I wrote about how the worst-case scenario was for the Blazers to go 2-2. And we went 2-2. No….The sky is not falling. Nothing to be too upset with, I thought I would be a lot more disappointed. I guess I’m thinking about the ways we lost. Had that game last night gone a little differently I might be upset but think about this. Portland’s two losses on this trip can be chalked up to the general wackiness involved with an East Coast road trip. I know half [...]
With regards to people who want Ray Felton
We had a commenter in here a day or so ago bring up an interesting trade involving Raymond Felton and Gerald Wallace coming to Portland that he made up on ESPN’s trade machine. I didn’t like the deal, but I know lots of forum goers think Felton is the answer. You can find my response in the comments of this post, but in a chat today John Hollinger, for whatever you may think of him, made a pretty similar point. If you are going to make a move, it’s got to make you significantly better. Otherwise, why do it? Jesse(Portland): [...]
Blazers, Nets Pre-Thoughts
Let’s try this Nets preview again. On the right day. *double checks* Yep we play the Nets tonight. To the New Jersey Nets. The mighty, mighty Nets who will welcome Portland into the IZOD Center tomorrow/today depending on when you read this. The Nets were one of the teams who spooked me before this road trip began. And now that we sit here at 1-1 they scare me even more. Both of these teams played last night and both got hammered. New Jersey got stomped by the Celtics and the Blazers got stomped by the Sixers. Who is going to [...]
Blazers 79, Sixers 100 Re-Thoughts
Not angry, upset or disappointed about this loss at all because if you looked at what the Blazers needed to do to get the W they did just about the exact opposite. Also as I’ve said before, East Coast road trips scare me because wacky things happen. Tonight was a wacky game. Philly isn’t that good and Portland is not this bad. I don’t want to say this was a perfect storm for Philly because that’s probably disrespectful and snooty but it was definitely a formula for success. They did everything it took to win the game. Flat out. Here [...]
Blazers, Sixers Pre-Thoughts
I wish I could say I drunkingly posted a preview of the Nets instead of the Sixers. I can’t. I haven’t felt like this since a hot girl caught we watching wrestling my freshman year of college. But I’m deathly afraid of Philadelphia after what happened last year. I’m not talking about it. Google it. Do what you have to do. But that hurt me bad. There is no question that Philadelphia has been one of the biggest disappointments of the NBA season. The Elton Brand move was supposed to move them into the elite, jump them into the top [...]
