Spurs/Blazers Preview
Happy Halloween! I think Blazer fans have had our scare for the year, so I’ll just go with the happy excuse for girls to look super slutty with no consequence…day. Boyfriends beware. Blazer fans can finally begin life without Oden for a few weeks. It’s not like we haven’t done this before but it is not like we wanted to do it again. Oh well no fan have magical healing powers so c’est la vie. Tonight’s game, win or lose should help “ease the pain” as everyone hits delete to erase the Blazers performance in LA out of the brain…ditto [...]
Webster: Extended
This is quite the statement…I don’t quite know what it is but it is a statement. Martell has been extended for four more years, “believed” to be at $20 million and the 4th year is a team option. Don’t have much more to say about it.
Roy and Aldridge are, like, BFF’s
Is it just me or has Jason Quick kicked his game up to 11 in the last four or five months? It’s like he’s improving as a beat writer the better the Blazers become. Anyways, Quick put up a very revealing story about the relationship between Roy and Aldridge last night, and, I know I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but it’s a must read. I love stories like this because they remind the fans just how human your heroes are. Ever get irritated by someone because they didn’t return your call when you took people out to dinner, [...]
Oden…
There’s an interesting conversation going on over there at Truehoop between Henry Abbott and David Thorpe. Honestly, I’m not sure if you want to read it, as it sort of outlines a worst-case scenario for Mr. Oden. Read at your own risk.
Oden out 2 to 4 weeks…
Joe Freeman’s article makes it sound like this is relatively good news, which I guess it is in the context of last season’s knee injury, but this is during our toughest stretch of schedule by far. As SJ mentioned yesterday, thank god we have Joel Pryzbilla. The other thing to consider is that Greg wasn’t really in his ideal game shape before the foot injury, so this sets his complete recovery back even further. And that’s all I’m going to say about this, partially because I’m still coming out of denial, and mostly because I just can’t talk about Oden [...]
Sad sight….
From Ball Don’t Lie, today’s create-a-caption was picture of Greg Oden sitting in the training room last night with a protective boot on his right foot. I swear, if you stare at it long enough and create your own sad music from a movie/sitcom your eyes will water. It’s like The Notebook for Blazer fans.
Oden’s Injury….
Ben at Blazer’s Edge has the lowdown on Oden’s injury. Oregon Live reports that X-rays were negative. It’s been reported as a sprain with MRIs scheduled for tomorrow. I’m sure we’ll all have more information tomorrow. Click on the link there is a photo of the actual injury and I’m surprised/thankful it’s only a sprained foot and not a tear of something in his ankle. Holy moly what a horrible looking injury.
Postgame Reactions
96-76 Lakers. The only thing that’s going to bug me about tonight are any cat calls from Blazer “fans” about this team and the smack talk coming from Laker fans. Bandwagon…consider this your wake-up call. I’m not surprised by this result at all. Not one bit. From my now ominous pre-game stream of random thoughts: Yeah…I said it. There’s no result tonight that could surprise me, depress me or any of that. I could easily see the Lakers coming in and winning by 20. Don’t call be a Debbie Downer, I’m just being realistic it’s something that could happen. Think [...]
Blazers v. Lakers Live-blog
It’s showtime ladies and gentlemen it is showtime. The 2008-09 Portland TrailBlazers will debut. Not only that but they will do it in Los Angeles, at the Staples Center against the Lakers. The #1 rival to Blazer fans but a brief distraction to the Lakers. Blazer fans of course want blood, but this isn’t the end-all be-all. Despite the tons of people with Blazer-related Facebook statuses 7:52: The game has already started. Thanks TNT, thanks a freaking lot. Really needed to see that Sideshow Bob deseperation 3. Lakers are up 9-4. Oden is a beast. He picked up about 3 [...]
Near Gametime…
I’m giddy. Not just because of this upcoming season for the Blazers…but the NBA is back in my life. I’m sitting on the couch, food by my side and watching glorious NBA Basketball. It does not get much better than this I promise. Even if I’m switching between a slightly underwhelming Celtics/Cavs game and a Bucks/Bulls game. I’m just happy. We’re about under 2 hours from tip-off at the Staples Center. I guess it’d be a good enough time to take a look at tonight’s contest. I, SJ will be guiding you through tonight’s festivities with a live blog of [...]
