Only real word I have about this game is annoying. It was annoying because we actually played very well, especially considering our shooting was way off. We did that Blazers thing where they kept on finding ways to score. Only problem was, LeBron was here, being LeBron. Now, this wasn’t nearly as bad for us as Kobe’s 60-point game last season, but as irksome as it is to lose like that, you tip your hat to the guy for making those 3’s. Only him, Kobe and sometimes T-Mac can do that so easily, just bap bap bap.
But why oh why [...]

Maybe I Was Wrong…
…maybe the Spurs are in trouble.
Nahhhhhh. Who am I kidding. However now I see why the Spurs are interested in (and look like they may get) Damon Stoudamire. Tony Parker is out ‘indefinitely’ with a bone spur in his heel. At the end of the day all San Antonio has to do is survive. They’re still San Antonio. Kudos to the Sonics for a big win in front of a big crowd. David Stern has to break laws to keep that team in Seattle. That arena erupted when Luke Ridnour dribbled out the clock, I guarantee if you showed a [...]
Tuesday Bits
Why was this not on SportsCenter? Nick Young dunked on LeBron James and you wouldn’t even have known if you didn’t look for it on YouTube. I’m guessing David Stern tried to have the footage burned or something. Too late.
There is insane. There is absurd. And then there is John Hollinger trying to even plant the idea that the Spurs might not make the playoffs. That my friends is what we call blasphemy. Anyone who knows anything about basketball knows that the Spurs don’t really start playing for another month or so. That’s when you look up and see [...]
No Kidding Around
Jason Kidd officially wants out. If the joke was still somewhat funny I would give ‘Captain Obvious’ a big thank you. I haven’t heard a worst-kept secret than when Jennifer Lopez tried to pretend she wasn’t pregnant. And then finally admitted she was and was surprised she was met with apathy.
Enough with the pop-culture, I’m sure for Kidd this is just a massive buildup of frustration. He carried the Nets to the Finals in his prime but was unable to get over the machines known as the Lakers and Spurs. He’s witnessed the Nets surround him with the likes of [...]
Quickie Blazers-Hawks Thoughts
Wait, we won? Are you sure? I could swear, I mean I turned that game off in twice in each quarter and thrice in the fourth, but I seem to remember a certain Brandon Roy doing some certain Brandon Roy-things? Wait another second, he did, he did do those things. He did come up with every big bucket the Blazers needed down the stretch, he did hit the game-winning free throw, he did play some of the best one-on-one defense I’ve ever seen in this league we call the NBA. I’ve said this before, but if that didn’t clinch an [...]
What A Day
I could not think of a better title for this post. I’ve been smiling non-stop all day thanks to the beautiful presents that the game of basketball gave me.
Kobe vs. LeBron delivered. And it delivered in such a way that immediately following the game I imagined this surreal conversation:
LeBron: “Hey Kobe wanna hear a knock-knock joke?”Kobe: “Why not.”LeBron: “Knock Knock”Kobe: “Whose there?”LeBron: “Gimme.”Kobe: “Gimme who?”LeBron: “Gimme that damn torch.”
Of course it’s not even Kobe’s torch to pass (MJ still has it lying around with his rings) but the debate is put to rest right now. I’ve never called Kobe the [...]
Who Saw This Coming?
There can’t have been one soul on this earth who openly thought that this would happen.
The New Orleans Hornets just beat the San Antonio Spurs 102-78.
In San Antonio.
Talk about sending a message..
People, tell me if I’m mistaken but weren’t the Hornets supposed to be a borderline playoff team? Well unless the definition changed they have proved to be anything but. Fact: New Orleans has the 2nd best record in the NBA. No Amy Winehouse it isn’t the crack…the Hornets are (record-wise) the second best team in the National Basketball Association.
I would have bet everything I owned if someone had [...]
Box Out
For all those silly people who had labled the Blazers as in the playoffs for sure…raise those antennas up. Open those stubborn eyes and see that we’re not quite there yet. Last night was a game the Blazers should have won. T-Mac was hobbled, Yao was ineffective thanks to foul trouble, everyone else was struggling. Except we went cold on offense. That’s ok, it happens. But what concerns me is how we let Luis Scola and Carl Landry come in and beat us. Scola had 11 points, 10 rebounds, 4 of which were offensive rebounds. Landry had 12 points, 8 [...]
Loungin’ at Adande’s
J.A. Adande put up a solid little article about the deceiving quality of the Blazers’ youth. Nothing groundbreaking, but it doesn’t carry that stale ‘Watch out, the Blazers still have Oden coming’ storyline that has seeped into 90-percent of Blazer stories (can’t fault anyone much for that though, it’s true and it’s scaring the league). Here’s a sample:
His veteran savvy extends to the locker room. After Travis Outlaw hit the game-winning shot in overtime to beat Atlanta, just as reporters flocked to Outlaw’s locker Roy announced, “Guys, I’m ready.” Hey, at least the media couldn’t claim Roy hadn’t made himself [...]
Still The Answer
The question was All-Star starters were finally announced today. Coming in, everyone thought that the 5 on each side were locked up. The bullseye was on Tracy McGrady who was in second place of all Western Conference guards. The debate was since he was getting voted in, who would get left out?
Who knew the answer to all of those questions would be Allen Iverson. It was Iverson who snuck his way into that starting spot in the Western Conference, bumping T-Mac out of a forced appearance and opening up a spot for someone who deserves to go. That sentence was [...]
