I’m excited. A lot of Blazer fans will probably say we should have won. I say no. The San Antonio Spurs are a well-oiled machine. They know exactly what it takes to win and when to do it. They chew up young teams like the Blazers up with ease. The line between winning and competing can sometimes be very small, and last night there were different stretches in the game that really showed we’re ready to compete. Just not quite ready to win. A team like San Antonio they force turnovers AND capitalize on them in impressive fashion. They find [...]

Questions Answered
Honestly, I’m so excited right now I can hardly type I’m so excited. But here we go with the Tag Team Live Journal of Blazers v. Spurs to commence the NBA season.
8:20 — LaMarcus opens up with back to back jumpers. I can’t believe I had to explain to someone that LMA would be a 20-10 guy very soon, and at least 18-9 this season. He’s the man in the post. And playing decent D on Duncan to boot.
8:26 — The Czar: “Roy can create any time he wants to off the dribble.” He’s right, actually. Webster takes a dribble [...]
….So Happy
I’ve been trying to process the words into coherent sentences all day. The words that will let you know just how excited I am for this season to start. Everytime I’ve ever tried to do a preview or look at the different storylines…I get too giddy. I can’t make sense of anything. My brain starts jumping from team to team, player to player at a frantic pace.
I no longer have to deal with this. The NBA is back tomorrow night. In less than 24 hours we will see the Spurs get their rings and then show us where the Blazers [...]
The wait…It has been so long
I don’t know if I can write a comprehensive paragraph on how excited I am for tomorrow — I was so tired of sitting here surfing the net for any NBA news that I preemptively ponied up the $159 for NBA League Pass — not to mention that the Blazers are in the friggin season opener against the Spurs. I know the NBA scheduled the game, and the Christmas Day game for that matter, thinking Oden would be around, but what a perfect opportunity for all the young guys to make a name for themselves on national television. You think [...]
The Kobe Saga
Apparently I wasn’t the only one none too pleased with Kobe’s preseason performance against the Jazz. Phil Jackson has publicly questioned Kobe’s on-court commitment to the Lakers. Maybe it’s just because it is preseason, but I never thought the day would come where anyone questions KB’s effort. I’m pretty sure this is a beautiful mind game by the Zen Master to see where his top guy’s head is at. However, I’m not sure there is an argument that he doesn’t look like the same Kobe. Throughout my love-hate-hate-hate-respect relationship with him I’ve always appreciated the fact that he is a [...]
Before I get to the picks, I’m watching this Lakers/Kings preseason game (because apparently I enjoy torture) and I’m not so sure how I feel about the NBA’s new ad campaign. It’s about 1000 times better than anything involving David Blaine, but ‘Where —- happens’…just not doing it for me right now. Has anyone found out what horrid, non-basketball related song ABC is going to trot out this year or are we stuck with Right Now? I will admit it’s annoyingly catchy but ABC might as well just go back to this.
I’m still in the game so I’d like to [...]
Lots of interesting Pick ‘em games going on, which means the week might be a crapshoot. The race looks like this coming into Sunday after I went 9-5 and Steve goes 10-4 in Week 7:
Coup: 63-40——————-Steve: 61-42Leaving me tied with Sean Salisbury again and Steve still effing up Mike Golic. And now, the picks:
RAMS over BrownsThe Browns have a terrible run defense, which could, possibly, maybe, nullify the St. Louis injuries on the O-line. Doesn’t hurt that Steven Jackson is back and ready for action (if a team brings someone back before a bye week, you know they are confident [...]
It’s a joke because the Colorado Rockies are in it. There is a reason why Cinderella stories are only beautiful when they are in the NCAA Tournament. Usually that team loses when it is supposed to. The NBA and MLB have examples of two unlikely teams who made inexplicable runs to the championship…only to get demolished. Just like the Cavaliers had no shot of beating the Spurs, the Rockies have no shot at beating the Red Sox. They’re the freakin Rockies. I’ve been alive longer than they have existed. Exactly. I might check the score once or twice but it’s [...]
Game One of the World Series was boring as all get out. For everyone. Sox fans won’t admit it, but the game itself, apart from half of the 5th, would’ve put cokeheads to sleep. Luckily, at least for Blazers and Sonics fans, we had on hell of a preseason game.
Down by as much as 10 in the fourth quarter, and with the Sonics responding on offense to their every move, the Blazers mounted the kind of comeback normally reserved for the home stretch. Brandon Roy, in just his second game of the preseason, shakes off the proverbial rust and earns [...]
And Another Rook Goes Down
The 07 Draft Class hasn’t had good luck. Tonight, the #15 pick Rodney Stuckey had to leave Detroit’s eighth and final preseason game after breaking his left hand. I feel for Stuckey as he was a tremendous story and looked to play a big part in Detroit’s plans. He had a great summer league and preseason and now will have his rookie season temporarily derailed. Is it just me or am I always talking about how someone got hurt? Sheesh. This adds to the injury list of the 07 Draft Class. The #1 pick Greg Oden is out for the [...]
