Apparently, no matter how hard we try this ain’t 1977.
At the end of the 1st; Golden State 41, Portland 26. The boys are going to need a big comeback. Impossible is nothing, but when you’re facing an offensive juggernaut, and you yourselves are neither an offensive or defensive juggernaut….pardon me if it looks bleak. That score has to just kill Clipper Nation. And I’m sure they will be holding a massive grudge against us. Could a rivalry be born?
Speaking of hate, two words that Orlando Magic fans do not want to hear right now; Ike Diogu. I feel bad for my ex-Sun Devil. 25 seconds left and the Pacers are down 95-96. Ike’s at the free throw line to put them up…and clanks both. Incredible.
Out East we’ve got; Detroit/Orlando, Miami/Chicago, Toronto/New Jersey and Chicago/Washington. I know I’ll be coming with major thoughts on this within the next few days, but initially I am cringing at Washington/Chicago. The fiasco they had on Sunday certainly has left a bitter taste in my mouth. The other three series really do it for me though.
Nate & Co. cut it to 45-34…there is still hope. ISO FOR DAN DICKAU.
Let’s not forget the other subplot out West; the LA Lakers and their potential fall to the #8 seed. If Golden State holds on, the Lakers have got to win at Sac-Town. And like I said earlier, the Kings would like nothing better than to hurt LA and their fans in anyway possible. As we speak they are up by three in the second half.
By the way, someone needs to call David Stern and make sure the Kings do not win. I’m not so sure that Dallas/Lakers and Suns/Warriors is going to be quite as good. I mean on paper it would look like Phoenix vs. Golden State would be a dream match trackmeet. Right? For some reason I could just see Phoenix blowing past them with ease. So please Commish, keep everything how it is.
The season may have been lackluster, but you’ve got to admit this is a pretty exciting end and a great segueway to the playoffs.
