Sports Illustrated reported yesterday on it’s Truth and Rumors page on cnnsi.com that the Cowboys might be targeting Arkansas RB Darren McFadden with the 1st Rounder they picked up from Cleveland. This is exactly the type of guy, a guy who many are saying will draw more hype than Reggie Bush did last year, that Jerry Jones would want to take, since it would surely keep the ‘Boys in the media for weeks, not to mention simply make them a better football team if McFadden replaces Julius Jones, who it seem more and more is just not fitting in the [...]

Further evidence that Mamba is the best player in the league, and yes I am competely disregarding the Lakers playoffs this year – you can only make Smush, Farmar and Shammond look so much better than they actually are. Is it just me or does it feel like Jerry Buss is on the verge of pulling a Patriots and going all out this offseason just so they aren’t wasting their star’s prime – but then I ask myself, isn’t that what he said he was doing last offseason? You have to believe the Lakers are going hard after Rashard Lewis [...]
Draft Thoughts
First off, I should have said the league wants Wade “to be the star…and stay that way.” And you and I both know it’s not only about going to the line. That replay of Hinrich showed Wade gambling and nudging Kirk off balance, forcing him to step back over the line, that is called as a foul on most anyone else (not Mamba though).
Now some draft thoughts -
Best Pick of the Draft: This award doubles as Ballsiest Pick and goes to Detroit for having the gall to pick another wideout, Calvin Johnson. If everything we hear about this guy is [...]
Brooms at DisneyWorld
For once Detroit took care of business against a lower-seeded team and got the sweep. Now they get a week off to rest and prepare for either Miami or Chicago. The difference bwtween the Pistons and the Heat? Detroit nailed their free throws. They went 31/38 and hit the last 15 to clinch the game. Now if they had a different coach I would hand them the Eastern Conference title.
For Orlando…a couple of things. They need to move Darko to the starting lineup and put Tony Battie on the bench. The only way Darko is going to get better is [...]
Cleveland Rocks
My favorite part of the Brady saga was that he was made unavailable to the media…about 10 picks too late. I was loving ESPN cutting to Brady and his GF and their disappointed looks. That was actually making the draft interesting. Thankfully Cleveland traded up (giving a lot away) to get him. I have never seen someone look so relieved in my life. For some reason I imagined him singing the theme song to the Drew Carey Show.
Also…I loved JaMarcus Russell’s swagger when he was announced as the #1 pick. He came out in all black, no fuss, no nonsense, [...]
8 in 120 Minutes?
For the 4th straight year, I have woken up at 10 and turned on the NFL Draft two hours late. They are on the ninth pick, Miami. Brady Quinn has to get picked by the Dolphins, it is sad looking at him in that room. He just wants to go home. I know there have been some bad ‘Green Room’ incidents in the NBA Draft, but wouldn’t it be worse to have to sit there forever in the NFL Draft?
Another thought on Brady…he needs to step his GF game up. Very disappointing Brady, very disappointing.
10:51 AM: Miami picks Ted Ginn…not [...]
Confessions
Couper…you were right. And I was wrong. But so are you. I could go on and on about how Miami beat themselves tonight (there is no argument there, they missed 15 free throws) but it would be useless.
Tonight let me know that there was a certain intangible that the Bulls have picked up.
Toughness.
They gutted this win out. They absolutely gutted this win out. This is a completely different Bulls team than in the past. These are not the inexperienced, collapsing Baby Bulls. These are the new and improved Chicago Bulls. And the biggest difference between them and the Heat is [...]
Daaa Bulls
Didn’t take long for the Baby Bulls to get three up on the defending champs. I hold off on the “I told you so’s” but the Bulls just have too many weapons for Miami too handle, plus they can play some great defense (other than Miami’s one dimensional shot blocking – hey shaq, how about tipping the ball to yourself for once).
What really gets me about those games is how scripted it all feels like to the refs. Joey Crawford might have gone insane finally, but Dick Bavetta is still David Stern’s errand boy (old man). And when Hubie Brown [...]

Curt Schilling is Burning.
Marcus Camby…Defensive Player of the Year? Really? He’s not even guarding Tim Duncan but he’s the best defensive player in the NBA for 2006-07? I’m not seeing it. Sure he led the L in blocks, but I don’t see him as the best Defensive Player. I for sure thought Bruce Bowen or Raja Bell would get it. Oh well, I guess the voters got confused when they couldn’t just scribble Ben Wallace on there and go about their business.
Las Vegas over Oklahoma City?? That could be the verdict for the SuperSonics…what is so wrong with the KeyArena [...]
Mamba
I’ll give it to the man. As terrible as he played the first two games, he made up for it tonight. By terrible I mean his decision-making. In the first two games, he was settling for jumpers; tonight he was in complete attack mode. The difference was obvious…instead of dribbling, dribbling and settling for a jumper…Mamba was slashing to the basket, getting to the foul line, getting a bucket or getting his teammates an easy bucket. Mamba did his thing, I will give him that.
But two guys really picked him up; Lamar and Kwame. I’m glad Phil finally said “F [...]
